

Alva Augustine Brown Jr. passed away peacefully on April 17, 2020 surrounded by family at the Veterans Hospital in Tampa, Fl. He was born January 24, 1923 in Boston, Ma. The son of Alva Augustine Brown Sr. and Mary Cameron Brown.
Alva was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Jacqueline Theresa Cournoyer Brown from Natick, Ma. Children: Marcia Brown Farkas and husband James Farkas of Warrenton, Virginia, Alva Mark Brown of Lutz, Fl, Cameron Brown MacDonald of Marshfield, MA Tracie Brown of Cape Cod, MA. Grandchildren: Michael MacDonald, Daniel MacDonald, Lauren MacDonald, Brittani Howard, Nicholas Farkas and his wife Hannah Kuhn Farkas, Jake Farkas and his wife Mallori Lawson Farkas, and numerous nieces, nephews, great, great nieces and nephews and God children.
During WWII, Alva served in the 65th Infantry Division of the United States Army: Special Forces under the leadership of General George Patton. He was in Enns, Austria on May 7, 1945 when he learned the war was over. In 2005, Alva revisited Enns, Austria where he stood on the very same spot he stood 60 years prior. He was a very patriotic man. Love of God, country and family was how he lived his life.
Al, as he was often called, worked for the Beacon Companies in Boston, MA for over 25 years. He was very well liked and respected by his colleagues and enjoyed the celebratory retirement party they threw in his honor.
Al was an avid reader and loved astronomy, geology and history. He spent years watching wrestling on TV and looked forward to WrestleMania. There was nothing a good scotch or a banana split couldn’t cure. He loved Jackie’s cooking and her chocolate cake. Al experienced life working in the city, living on the farm in Medway and retiring on the Cape Cod Canal where he spent many hours watching the ships pass by. When the weather turned cold, he and Jackie traveled to Florida to stay with their son Mark.
Al lived a full 97 years of life and is now in Heaven with his parents, brothers Russell Brown and Fred Brown and his sister Alice Brown Verney.
Funeral services provided by Blount & Curry Funeral Home at Carrollwood 3207 W. Bearss Ave, Tampa, FL 33618. Services will be held at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL at a later date.
