Amira Elena Gomez - Rojas

With deep sadness, I share the passing of my mother, Amira Elena Gómez Rojas, who left us peacefully on Saturday, November 15th. She was born in Santa Marta on October 7, 1944, the second of nine children: Alfredo, Cecilia, Gloria, Rosmira, Javier, Heriberto, Victoria, and Victor.

My mom came to the United States with a suitcase in one hand and a three-and-a-half-year-old in the other. Through courage, sacrifice, and relentless determination, she opened the doors for our family and dedicated her life to giving me every opportunity she never had.

She was my mom, a devoted wife for nearly 30 years to Wilfrido Rojas, a loving grandmother to Mariana and a beloved sister — a force of nature whose strength, intelligence, and unconditional love held our family together.

She is survived by her son, Fabio Gomez; her husband, Wilfido Rojas; her daughter-in-law; Maricarmen Ojeda Vila and her granddaughter, Mariana.

At her request, there will be no services. She simply asked that we remember her — her spirit, her fight, and the deep love she had for everyone.

Her absence leaves a profound emptiness, and we will carry her memory forever.

Con profunda tristeza comparto el fallecimiento de mi madre, Amira Elena Gómez Rojas, quien partió en paz el sábado 15 de noviembre. Nació en Santa Marta el 7 de octubre de 1944, siendo la segunda de nueve hijos: Alfredo, Cecilia, Gloria, Rosmira, Javier, Heriberto, Victoria y Víctor.

Mi mamá llegó a los Estados Unidos con una maleta en una mano y un niño de tres años y medio en la otra. Con valentía, sacrificio y una determinación inquebrantable, abrió las puertas para nuestra familia y dedicó su vida a ofrecerme las oportunidades que ella nunca tuvo.

Fue mi mamá, una esposa dedicada por casi 30 años a Wilfrido Rojas, una abuela amorosa a Mariana y una hermana muy querida — una fuerza de la naturaleza cuya fortaleza, inteligencia y amor incondicional mantuvieron unida a nuestra familia.

Le sobreviven su hijo, Fabio Gomez; su esposo, Wilfrido Rojas; su nuera; Maricarmen Ojeda Vila y su nieta, Mariana.

A petición de ella, no habrá servicios. Solo pidió que la recordáramos — su espíritu, su lucha y el amor profundo que tuvo por todos.

Su ausencia deja un vacío inmenso, y llevaremos su memoria con nosotros para siempre.
