This is not your typical obituary… this is a love story that has reached the end of a chapter. Chapter 1 began in 1967 when Andrew Wiley Polk and Susanna Elaine Laird dated as teenagers. That chapter ended when Andy was called away to Vietnam and Susanna left for college. 37 years later, Andy and Susanna were re-introduced and they were married shortly thereafter. After 11 love-filled years, Andy was called by his Father in heaven on December 19, 2016. Susanna was blessed to be holding his hand as he took his last breath and is comforted knowing that he is in the arms of Jesus. Andy and Susanna have many more chapters ahead of them in heaven. They will just have to endure another separation before their love affair can resume. Andy served valiantly in the armed forces in Vietnam, during which time he was exposed to Agent Orange. This ultimately resulted in 100% disability. Andy’s first love was music and he flourished as a singer, songwriter and performer. In addition to recording his original song “You’re Never Alone”, which was the most requested song on the radio by a local artist in Missouri, Andy was a proud member of the Mid America Gospel Music Association. Andy touched the lives of many through music and as a school teacher in Missouri. Andrew Wiley Polk, born April 8, 1949 in Elvins, Missouri, was preceded in death by his parents, Maebell Keay Polk and Alvin Polk, his daughter Erin Polk, his brothers Richard Polk and Terry Polk, as well as his sister, Marlene Janis. Andrew’s spirit lives on through his children: Zachry Polk, Jacob Polk; his grandchildren: Ethan Glore, Adriana Polk, Roman Polk, and Camden Polk; his brother: Ardell Polk and wife, Rose Polk; his sister Paula Watkins and husband Jere Watkins. A celebration of life will be held January 4, 2017 at Carrollwood Country Club, 13903 Clubhouse Dr, Tampa, FL 33618, 1:30 - 4 pm (Service 2 pm). Bring your best memories to share.
