(August 8, 1949 – May 18, 2024)
Barbara Frances Grimes Fowler, a cherished mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away on May 18, 2024, in Plant City, Florida. Born on August 8, 1949, in Tampa, she spent her early years in the picturesque town of Limestone, Maine, before returning to her beloved Florida shores.
Barbara was a woman of contrasts—a blend of warmth and complexity. She adored her family, cherishing moments spent with her two children and three grandchildren. The beach was her sanctuary, where the sun’s rays kissed her skin, and the waves whispered secrets only she could hear. She was a LPN who loved working with her patients. And then there was Elvis—the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll—who held a special place in her heart. She’d sway to his tunes, lost in nostalgia.
Barbara was often known for her kindness. She’d offer a smile to a stranger and lend a helping hand when needed. As time passed, life’s challenges etched lines on her face, and her heart grew weary. The sands of time shifted, and Barbara became more guarded. Yet, even in her final years, glimpses of her former warmth would emerge—a soft touch, a beautiful smile, or a warm hug.
As the sun sets on Barbara’s earthly journey, we remember her as a complex soul—a mother who loved fiercely, a grandmother who delighted in laughter, and a woman who danced to her own rhythm. She leaves behind cherished memories and a legacy of love.
Barbara is survived by her children, Jennifer Lynn Fowler Fitch (Duey) and Marshall Carlton Fowler (Samantha), who carry her spirit forward, and her grandchildren, Austin Nathaniel Styer, Joshua Caleb Collado and Reid Sebastian Fowler, who will forever feel her love in the gentle sea breeze.
She also leaves behind her siblings, Patricia McKenna (Thomas), Ed Grimes (Donna) and Debbie Hall. Her niece Kerry Grimes and nephews Aaron Grimes and Jeremy Hall. She is preceded in death by her father and mother Charles and Mary Grimes and brother Phillip Grimes.
May her soul find eternal peace, and may the waves continue to sing her name along the shores she so adored.
