A Beloved Son, Husband, Father, Grandfather, Friend
Carl M.D. Archer was born January 10, 1925 at 1:00 a.m. in Mulberry, Arkansas to parents Virgil W. and Ella Golden (Broyles) Archer. He was the son of a farming family and was fondly known to family and friends as “M.D.”
M.D. farmed with his parents until he finished high school and would have continued farming but World War II was at its height and he joined the United States Army Air Corps (later named the United States Air Force) in 1943. He served as a B17 and B34 Mechanic and Technician until the end of the war. While serving, he was assigned to MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa, Florida where he met and married Juanita Waits. He and Juanita were blessed with four children from 1945 to 1959.
M.D. was known as a diligent provider for his family and worked in a number of different occupations throughout his years. He was recognized as a worthy workman by his coworkers and his family. He never left a position until another was secured. He was proud to have never been “unemployed’.
After celebrating 25 years of loving marriage, Juanita lost her battle to cancer in 1970.
M.D. continued working and attending his church faithfully where he soon was attracted to Faith Fry. In 1971, he and Faith married. They loved to travel and they visited 48 of the 50 states by car. They enjoyed many wonderful years of marriage until 2011 when Faith, also, was lost to cancer. M.D. often said that he was blessed with the two best wives for whom any man could ask.
M.D. served as his church’s treasurer for over 40 years. He gave countless hours toward volunteering at his church in ministry and maintenance. He simply enjoyed helping people, whatever their need.
He loved his family and lived an example of a helpful, caring, humble, kind, and gentle husband, father, grandfather (Peepaw and Papaw).
M.D. was preceded in death by his parents, both wives (Juanita and Faith), and his oldest daughter, Linda McCleod. He is survived by three children, Maribeth Allen (Tom), Carl Archer (Jan), Ruth Archer; eight grandchildren Kim Johnson (Ricky), Sylvia Conners, Donna DePetris (Jimmy), Tom Allen, John Mark Allen, Maria Neal (Dormain), Joshua Allen, and Todd Archer (Sarah); 14 great Grandchildren, and six great-great grandchildren.
M.D. Finished his earthly work on Wednesday, May 14, 2025 at 3:12 p.m. He was loved dearly and will be greatly missed.
