Carl L. Redderson

He was born in 1938 in Paterson, NJ to Charles Henry and Pauline Redderson. He was raised in Gulfport, FL graduating from Boca Ciega High School in 1956.

Carl joined the Navy Reserves after graduation serving 2 years in the U.S. Navy stationed in Seattle, WA at the Naval Air Station. He then attended St. Petersburg Junior College for one year then transferring to the University of Florida where he graduated with a Bachelors of Science in 1961. He continued at the University of Florida earning his Doctor of Medicine degree in 1965, followed by an internship at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta, GA. He served one year with the Thomas A. Dooley Foundation as General Medical Officer in Ban Houei Sai, Laos. He returned to the U.S. to complete his anesthesia residency at the University of Florida. He continued on to complete a fellowship in anesthesia and served as an Associate Professor of Anesthesia at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, OH. He eventually settled into private practice at All Children's Hospital in St. Petersburg, FL where he held roles as Chief of Anesthesia and Chief of Staff. During this time, he completed a medical mission to Honduras. Carl retired in 2004.

In retirement, he volunteered several days a week at the Nativity Outreach Food Pantry in Dover, FL.

He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in downtown Tampa working tirelessly with their ministry to help clothe and feed the poor and homeless.

He is survived by his wife Patricia, son John (Christine), daughter Rachel, step-children Scott (LeeAnn), Matt, Steven and Amy (Matt) and 12 grandchildren.

A service for Carl will be held Monday, July 21, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 509 N Florida Ave, Tampa, FL 33602. A graveside service will occur Monday, July 21, 2025 from 12:00 PM to 12:30 PM at Garden of Memories Cemetery, E Lake Ave, Tampa, FL 33610. A reception will occur Monday, July 21, 2025 from 12:30 PM to 2:00 PM at Blount & Curry Funeral Home at Garden of Memories, 4207 E LAKE AVE, TAMPA, FL 33610.
