Carolyn Elaine (Johnston) Evans, age 63, of Columbus, Ohio passed away peacefully while holding hands with her husband and only child on December 21, 2025. Carolyn ascended into the loving arms of Jesus after a 2 ½ year battle with cancer which she endured with strength and bravery, living each day to its fullest at her current residence in Tampa, Florida. Carolyn retired from the Ohio State University where she worked the bulk of her career as Program Administrator in the research department. There she made many lasting friends of whom she recently traveled to Columbus to visit just a few days before her departure from this earth. It was also very important to Carolyn to attended and worship the Lord at the New Destiny Worship Center in Clearwater, Florida. She enjoyed her retirement in the Tampa area routinely taking morning walks with her husband and her dog Anna. She enjoyed cruising, playing board games with friends in the community, online puzzle gaming with people around the world, staying in touch and exchanging gifts with her mother, daughter and friends in Ohio and helping those in need around her.
She was daughter to the late Eugene Johnston and survived by her mother Mary Jane Johnston and her two older brothers Chris and Craig Johnston. Carolyn is also survived by her best friend, love of her life, soul partner and husband of 44 years, Donald Evans and loving daughter Marilee Mitchell of Springfield, Ohio. She was also blessed to have two grandchildren, Marissa and Meredith Mitchell both from Springfield, Ohio.
Two years ago and two days before Thanksgiving, Carolyn was told by doctors she would never eat or drink again by mouth and only had a few months to live. The next day the Lord performed a miracle and Carolyn was home the next day eating and drinking on Thanksgiving Day and that was her testimony to God that she shared openly. Carolyn lived a full life the next two years with only minor cancer flareups until the Lord took her quickly on December 21, 2025.
Per Carolyn’s wishes there will be no public memorial services.
