Born July 11, 1947, in Albany, New York, Carolyn was the beloved daughter of Edward S. Hoke and Harriet “Kit” Carson Hoke.
Carolyn was a woman of elegance, grace, and beauty, wrapped in warmth and tenderness. She was intelligent, independent, inspiring, and insightful — a woman of quiet strength and deep faith.
She earned her bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Miami and later, in her 40s, followed her calling to nursing, earning her degree from Hillsborough Community College. She went on to serve others with compassion, dignity, and deep empathy. Carolyn treated every patient as if they were family, offering comfort not only through her skilled hands, but through her kind words, prayers, and steady presence. To her, nursing was never just a career — it was a ministry of love.
Carolyn found joy in gardening, sewing, and working puzzles, and she cherished meaningful conversations about life, health, and family. She was known for her gentle spirit, warm wit, and quiet wisdom that left a lasting impression.
Throughout her life, Carolyn remained devoted to her family and faith, prayerfully trusting God in every season and guiding her home with love, wisdom, and grace.
We trust she has now heard the words, “Well done, good and faithful servant.” — Matthew 25:21
Being “Nana” was one of the greatest joys of her life. She treasured every moment with her grandchildren and loved them deeply, delighting in their laughter, milestones, and everyday moments.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward S. Hoke and Harriet “Kit” Carson Hoke.
Carolyn is survived by her children and their families: Richard (Christy) Wilson; Scott (Morgan) Wilson and their daughter, Payton; and Greg (Tiffany) Wilson and their children, Bella, Brystal, Barrett, and Brielle; her brothers, Edward (Diane) Hoke and Don (Karol) Hoke.
A celebration of Carolyn’s life will be held on Saturday, February 28, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Blount and Curry Funeral Home in Carrollwood. All who knew and loved Carolyn are welcome to attend. The family will begin to receive friends starting at 10am.
