He is preceded in death by father, Richard Blevins and mother, Geneva Byrd, sisters, Virgie Leathers and Evelyn Carlisle.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Darlene, with whom he shared countless adventures, warm memories, and a deep, endless love. He also leaves behind his cherished daughter Vickii Lynn Johnson (Robert Johnson), his beloved son Charles William Blevins Jr. (Carla Freeman), daughter Cynthia Hoffman (Ira Hoffman), and son Charles Timothy Blevins, 20 treasured grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and 3 siblings, Carl Blevins (Lelia), Maxine Marsee (Jerry) and Monroe Blevins (Mary.)
Charles loved life and embraced each day. He especially loved traveling and taking trips with Darlene. A man with a generous soul and a sweet tooth, no meal was complete without his trademark question: “What’s for dessert?”
He had a gift for conversation, effortlessly connecting with others. Whether a friend or a stranger, he could always find something to talk about, leaving people with a smile and a story. He also found beauty in flowers—especially when they bloomed. In his later years, he enjoyed selecting the perfect blooms for his wife to plant, admiring the garden as a shared labor of love.
Charles deeply appreciated those who made time for him, and with his signature blend of humor and sincerity, he’d often say, “Glad you got to see me.” His presence was a gift, and his memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
A celebration of Charles’s life will be held on May 25th at 2:00 pm, 14303 Brentwood Drive, Tampa, FL 33618.
The family invites you to honor his memory by sharing a sweet treat with someone you love, planting a flower, or striking up a conversation with a neighbor. He would’ve loved that.
