

Del Valle, Charles “Charlie”, 96 of Tampa, passed away at his home November 1, 2010. Born in Tampa, July 10, 1914 where he lived his entire life. Upon graduation at Hillsborough High School he traveled though the state as a salesman for Booker and Co. Entering the Army in June 1941 he served three years in the South Pacific before his discharge in 1946, advancing to the rank of Captain. On his return to civilian life he married Marian White and had two children Craig and Janis. Later he and his four brothers formed Del Valle Brothers and Company, which prospered as a distributor of lumber and building supplies in the Tampa Bay area for many years. Later he ventured into real estate with his wife Ann, forming Ann Del Valle Realty, which grew rapidly in the 70’s and 80’s until he retired. Living on the water all his life he loved fishing and the wildlife that surrounded the bay area. Charles was active in the organizational life in the Tampa Bay area having served as a board member of the Florida Lumber and Millwork Association, member of the Chamber of Commerce, director of the Ho Ho Club, and director of Tampa Bowling Association of which he was a past president. He also served on the board of the Tampa Tarpon Tournament and past president of the Lion’s Club, member of the Quarterback Club, the H.B. Plant High School Dad’s Club and post 139 of the American Legion. Among other things Charles will be remembered for his generosity and sense of humor that enriched the lives of his many family members and friends during his long life. He is survived by his two sons Craig and wife Rhonda and Michael, daughter Janis Justice; three sisters Hortense Morris, Victoria Kreher, Helen Hill, and sister-in-law Alma Del Valle; five grandchildren Wendy Little and husband Bob, John Justice, Scott Justice, Boe Stoebner and wife Chris, and Jessica Leigh; three great-grandchildren Jacob and Dylan Little, and Spencer Stoebner. The family will receive friends for a visitation, Thursday, November 4, from 6-8 PM at Marsicano-B.Marion Reed-Stowers Funeral Home. A funeral service will take place Friday, November 5, 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Garden of Memories.
