Christine Logue, a devoted wife, stepmother, step-grandmother, and a woman of remarkable intellect, passed away peacefully on April 2, 2026, at St. Joseph Hospital, following a courageous battle with metastatic melanoma. She was 81.
Born in Jefferson Heights, New York to Val Staker and Erin Logue, Christine was defined by a unique blend of scientific curiosity and strategic vision. She earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in biology, followed by an MBA—a combination that allowed her to view the world with both wonder for the natural world and a keen understanding of its complex structures. Her ability to synthesize data and face challenges with a sharp, analytical mind was matched only by the depth of her compassion.
She held positions at Bausch & Lomb, Tech Data, and Hillsborough College, as well as an immunotherapy startup, and she had her own startup business consulting on technology transfers between U.S. and Japanese corporations.
Christine shared 33 beautiful years of marriage with her husband, Ed McGinty. Together, they built a life rooted in partnership, navigating both the triumphs and the trials with an unwavering commitment to one another.
Beyond her professional and academic achievements, Christine was an integral member of her family. She offered each member of the family both wisdom and warmth, and a step-grandmother who delighted in the growth and milestones of her step-grandchildren. Her heritage, rooted in County Donegal, Ireland, was a source of pride and a testament to the resilience and spirit she carried throughout her life.
She is survived by her loving husband, Ed McGinty; her sister, Mynet Feinburg, her two stepsons, John McGinty and Sean McGinty, her step-daughter-in-law, Corinne McGinty; her step-grandchildren, Michael McGinty, Meghan McGinty, Ella McGinty, and Macy McGinty, her Australian cousins, and a community of friends who were better for knowing her. She was preceded in death by her parents.
A memorial service to celebrate Christine’s life and legacy will be held at 6pm on May 7, 2026, at Blount & Curry Funeral Home-Carrollwood at 3207 W. Bearss Ave., Tampa, FL 33618. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Donald A. Adam Melanoma and Skin Cancer Center of Excellence, C/O Moffitt Cancer Center Foundation, 12902 Magnolia Drive, Tampa, FL 33612, supporting the venture philanthropy efforts she so passionately believed in to find a cure for others.
