Daniel Robert Burkhardt

Dan (Danny) was a kind, caring, and fun-loving man who deeply cherished his roles as a husband, friend, father, and grandparent. He truly invested in people, always willing to offer a helping hand to a friend or family member. Full of life, Dan was always ready for a spontaneous adventure, whether it was traveling, fishing, or discovering a new favorite restaurant. He found great joy in showcasing his love of Florida to friends and family, acting as a guide to his favorite hidden gems and restaurants. A born competitor, he was always seeking the next "great deal" and possessed an uncanny knack for winning all types of games, from cards and board games to sports. His strong spirit leaves behind a legacy of love and a life truly well-lived.

Originally from City Island, Bronx, New York, his family moved to New Milford, New Jersey when he was eight years old. After graduating high school, he entered the culinary arts earning a diploma from the Culinary Institute of America in New Haven, Connecticut. While he spent his early years as a chef, Dan eventually pivoted to business management, earning a degree from the University of South Florida. This transition led to a long and successful career as an insurance adjuster and manager for several companies, most notably USAA. However, it was in retirement that Dan found his "true calling" as a real estate investor in the Tampa Bay area partnering with some of his closest friends.

Dan was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Cornelia Burkhardt, and his brother, Ron Burkhardt. His memory will be cherished by his loving wife of 55 years, Jo Ann Burkhardt; his two sons, Daniel Burkhardt Jr. (Shannon) and John Burkhardt (Jessica); his four grandchildren, Sophie (Christian Davis), Zack, Lena, and Ethan; and his great-grandchildren, Dorothy and Junia. He also leaves behind his brother, Louis Burkhardt.

Family and friends are invited to a Gathering held in Daniel's honor on Friday, April 17, from 2pm-4pm at Blount & Curry Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will start promptly at 4pm at  Blount & Curry Funeral Home, located at 3207 West Bearss Ave, Tampa. Flowers are appreciated, or if you prefer, please consider a donation to a charity of your choosing in honor of Dan's life.
