Darla Elaine Salata, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away on April 26,
2025, in Tampa, Florida. Born in Lewistown, Pennsylvania, on February 10, 1950, Darla grew
up with a deep love for music, adventure, and the people she cherished most.
A graduate of Elyria High School in Ohio, Darla went on to dedicate over 20 years of service to
University Community Hospital, where her warmth and dedication touched many lives. Beyond
her professional career, she found joy in coordinating events for the Noonatics, bringing together
fellow fans of Peter Noone and celebrating the British Invasion and 1960s music that she so
adored.
Darla's love for life was evident in the way she embraced travel, reveled in the serenity of the
beach, and showered her grandchildren-Madison, Benjamin, Ryan, and Mateo-with endless
affection and delight. She is survived by her devoted mother, Mary Gregory; her loving husband,
James Salata; her cherished children, Stacee Harbeck (Kyle Harbeck), Marci Leonard (Chuck
Leonard), and Cory Salata (Elizabeth Salata); and her treasured grandchildren.
Her bright spirit, kindness, and enthusiasm for life will be dearly missed but forever celebrated
by all who were fortunate enough to know her.
