Reed, Dennis L. 83, of Tampa went to meet the Lord on Tuesday May 17th, 2018. This was a goal that he labored his entire life to reach. He was born in Sterling City, Texas on April 14th, 1935 to Leonard and Carrol Reed. During his teenage years, he began to spread the word of God to surrounding Churches of Christ, in the Texas countryside. It was during these early years, of his ministry that he decided to attend Florida College in Temple Terrace, Florida. It was here he met the love of his life, Barbara who was his wife for sixty three years. He began his preaching years living in various places within Florida and Alabama. Dennis and Barbara welcomed their two children, Dennis Jr. and Rebecca Jane, during these early years of their marriage. While living and preaching in Alabama he earned his Master’s Degree in Education. In 1972, the family moved back to Florida where he started his teaching career. He taught elementary school and eventually became a principal for the Hillsborough County School District. Dennis retired in 1997 from the education field. Dennis used these years, spending time with his cherished family, collecting Early American antiques, and working and planting in his yard. Most importantly, he continued his tireless efforts to spread the true word of God. Dennis is preceded in death by his precious daughter Becky Rymal, his parents, and his three siblings. He is survived by his wife Barbara and their son Dennis Jr. His four grandchildren: Jessica Anderson (Derek,) Holley Townsend (Scott,) Philip Rymal (Tiffany,) and Daniel Reed. Dennis also was the proud great grandfather of eight: Dustin, Daiden, and Madilyn Anderson; Tristan, Lacey, and Hudson Townsend; Grayson and Lincoln Rymal. Dennis is loved and will be missed by a large extended family and many friends. A visitation for family and friends will be held Monday May 21st in the evening from 6:00-8:00 P.M. at the Blount & Curry Funeral Home Carrollwood Chapel located at 3207 West Bearss Avenue. Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. on, Tuesday, May 22nd, at the Forest Hills Church of Christ, 1011 West Linebaugh Avenue, Tampa, Florida.
