Originally from Indianapolis,IN, a graduate of Howe High School and the daughter of Gerald James “Bud” and Jeanne Hornaday Simons. Dianne married Larry J. Cox in 1970 and moved to Winter Park ,Florida in 1972, eventually ending up in the Carrollwood area of Tampa in 1978.
Dianne enjoyed tennis, bridge and just about anything else you’d dare her to do. Her and Larry were avid tennis players for many years which led to life long friendships. Dianne held those friendships near and dear to her heart.
Her generous nature also led her to fund raise for those less fortunate than her. Many charities have formally recognized her efforts over the years; United Cerebral Palsy and The Alzheimer’s Association just to name a couple. She often times volunteered her time to help coordinate events from fashion shows with her friend Georgette for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Wives to the Games for the Disabled. She also loved traveling, Italy being one of her favorite destinations. But more than anything else, her family was her pride and joy, she would do anything for them. Spending time with them, creating events and getting the whole family in one place at the same time was when she was happiest.
Dianne was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years Larry J. Cox, her parents, Gerald (Bud) Simons and her brother James Gerald Simons. She is survived by her 4 children, Jeff (Carolyn) Bowen, Sherri (Aaron) Truman, Michael (Shawn) Bowen and Joe (Suzanne) Cox, 4 grandchildren, Ryan (Kelsey) Bowen, Mitchell Hayes, Lyndsey (Brandon) Harris, Tiffany Truman & 7 great grandchildren.
