

Dorothy E. Schiffmacher was born in Live Oak, Florida. At age 6 she moved to the Clearwater, Florida area. She attended school in Largo and then attended Florida State University where she received her BS degree in 1948 and a Masters in Botany in 1950. She was also a member of Delta Zeta Sorority.
In 1950 she married John G. Schiffmacher in Clearwater and moved to Tampa in 1957. Her affiliations and memberships were:

She was appointed by Mayor Bob Martinez to serve on City of Tampa’s Landscape and Tree Board for 8 years. She was a National Accredited Master Forever Show Judge and member of Flower Arranging Club “Floralia II.” She also loved gardening, flower arranging, cooking and entertaining.
Husband, John G. Schiffmacher, precedes her in death. Survived by a son, John A. Schiffmacher and wife, Debbie, of Riverview, Florida; a daughter, Mary Ann Jones, of Homosassa Springs; three grandchildren, Alex Schiffmacher and wife, Angie, of Amarillo, Texas; Laura Knight and husband, Steven Knight, of San Diego, California; and Ashley Schiffmacher of Starkville, Mississippi; three great grandchildren, Jet, Mia and Axel.
