Horace Monroe Clark, 93, of Tampa entered the kingdom of heaven on December 7, 2025, after an extended illness. He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Peggy, his parents, William J. and Eva Clark of Brandon, and ten brothers and sisters. He was the last surviving child born to William and Eva. Left to cherish his memory are his son, Keith and his family of Spring Hill; daughter, Ann Brees of Seffner; daughter, Tina Evans of Spring Hill; grandchildren Toby, Chase, J.C. and Katie; great-grandchildren, Brayden, Addisyn and Grayson, as well as sister-in-law Dottie Hutchison of Dover.
Horace worked as an outstanding salesman for several years before opening Clark's Grocery and Market in Tarpon Springs and Weeki Wachee. He and Peggy worked alongside each other for 18 years in the grocery business before retiring to Tampa. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed many trips with his brothers and with his son, Keith, from the time he could carry him on his shoulders through the woods. Later, he looked forward to going hunting with Keith, his grandsons and great-grandson. One of the things he enjoyed most of all was going fishing with Peggy and the family. He loved to tell stories about Peggy catching the most fish and how excited she would get when they were planning the next fishing trip.
Horace enlisted in the United States Army at the age of 17. He turned 18 years old on the battlefield in Korea. He served with the 92nd AFA Red Devils and fought in one of the most brutal battles at the Chosin Reservoir. He was awarded the Korean Service Medal and six bronze stars for his participation in six major battles while he was there. He was a true patriot and was proud to have served his country.
In the 93 years of his life, Horace was many things to many people. He was a son, a brother, a hero, an uncle and a friend. Most of all he was a husband, a daddy and a papa. He always put his faith and his family first. His legacy, love, and dedication will forever be cherished by his family and friends.
Graveside service with military honors will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, December 13, 2025, at Garden of Memories Cemetery, 4207 E. Lake Avenue, Tampa, FL 33610. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the American Cancer Society or organization of your choice.
