

Howard Wayne Benson, 96, of Tampa, Florida, went home to be with the Lord Jesus, his Savior, on Tuesday, October 28, 2025. Howard was born in San Angelo, Texas, to Erasmus Stockton and Gertrude (Gaylor) Benson.
Howard held a bachelor's degree in accounting from the University of Nebraska. He had a long career in accounting and real estate management, even owning his own business. Howard enjoyed eating tomatoes, gardening, hiking, playing golf, and watching football. He loved his family and often said to us, “I love you.” He would sing his favorite family adoration song, “I love flowers in the springtime…).
He is survived by his two daughters, Kathryn and Nancy & her husband Carnell; seven grandchildren (Brett and his wife Chloe, Ebriana, Jordan, Logan, Wyatt, Damian, and Reagan); great-grandchildren; his sister, Sue, and numerous special nephews; nieces; and those he was a great uncle to.
He was preceded by his wife, Janet E. (McMeekin) Benson, granddaughter, Kacy, and six sisters, Lottie, Lilly Mae, Mary, Dot, Louise, Bonnie and one brother, Jim.
Services will be held on Friday, December 12th at Idlewild Baptist Church (*18333 Exciting Idlewild Blvd., Lutz, FL 33548). He was a member of Seekers Bible Fellowship at Idlewild. Please join us: Family visitation/condolences at 10 am EST; Celebration of Life Service at 11 am EST; and a friends & family finger-food luncheon immediately following the service. All are welcome to join us.
