

Jeffrey Alan Katon, 56, of Tampa, Florida went home to be with the lord on November 20, 2024. Jeff was a cherished soul known for his compassionate, loving and caring personality. Jeff lived a life filled with a sense of pride and service towards his country, his family and his friends.
Jeff was born on August 21, 1968 in Miami, Florida to parents Jonathan and Priscilla “Maurie” Katon (predeceased). After Jeff graduated from Palmetto High School in 1986, he proudly enlisted in the United States Air Force and served as part of the Security Police team in Comiso, Italy for four years.
In 1990, Jeff came back to Miami to complete his college education. He majored in Finance and was awarded a Bachelor’s degree in Business by Florida International University in 1994.
Jeff had an outstanding career that began as an assistant comptroller for Commerce Bank in 1996 through 1997. During this period, he applied for the Secret Service and was accepted into the Academy, where he graduated in 1997. Jeff served his country as a Senior Secret Service Agent up until his passing.
In 2001, Jeff met Antoinette “Nettie” Lewinski in Ft. Myers, Florida at Peter’s LaCuisine restaurant. They married a year later in 2002. The couple had one son Spencer Katon. The couple enjoyed traveling, antiquing, dining out, taking road trips to Tennessee to see their son and spending time with family and friends. Both Jeff and Nettie were devout Catholics and spent time praying to Rosary together.
Jeff was an animal lover and spent most of his life rescuing animals who needed a loving home. He loved outdoor activities such as biking and kayaking. Jeff traveled extensively for work which offered him the opportunity to see places he could have only dreamed of.
Jeff is survived by his loving wife Antoinette “Nettie” Katon, son Spencer Katon, father Jonathan Jay Katon, second mother Yolanda Katon, sister Holly Jenise Newberry and sister Stephanie Barbara Falero. Jeff had a third sister Julie Katon who passed away in 2020. He is also survived by his loving in-laws Larry and Bernadette Lewinski, his brothers in-law Steven Newberry, Christopher and Larry Lewinski Jr, niece Bryanna and nephew Ryan Newberry, soul sister Odilia Castillo Mezquia, uncles, cousins and last but not least his beloved labradoodle, Kylie.
Although Jeff is gone, he will live in our hearts forever and we look forward to the day we will see him again.
A visitation for Jeff will be held Tuesday, December 3, 2024 from 5:00PM to 8:00PM at Blount & Currey Funeral Home at Garden of Memories, 4207 East Lake Avenue, Tampa, Florida 33610.
A funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, December 4th 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Chapel (2404 Stuart St, Tampa, FL 33605).
A committal service will be held on Wednesday, December 4th 2024 from 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM at the Florida National Cemetery (6502 SW 102nd Ave, Bushnell, FL 33513).
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to The Walsh Research Institute, an organization Jeff felt strongly about.
