Joan Acker Del Rio, 66, of Tampa, FL, passed away on February 22, 2015 after a long battle with ovarian cancer. Born November 4, 1948 in Springfield, MA, Joan was preceded in death by her parents, Burton and Dorathea Acker, and is survived by Richard, her loving husband of nearly 49 years, her daughter Lori Del Rio, daughter and son-in-law Gia and Larry Clinkscales, son and daughter-in-law Rick and April Del Rio, 3 granddaughters, and 3 grandsons. She was a valued employee and friend at Telsouth Communications for almost 20 years. Joan was full of life and adventure. She was an NRA and motorcycle instructor, a spiritualist, an animal lover, and a huge supporter of ovarian cancer research and the American Heart Association. Her joyful personality, compassion, and beautiful smile will be missed by all of her family and friends. A graveside service will be held on Monday, March 2, at 10 am at the Florida National Cemetery, 6502 SW 102nd Ave, Bushnell, FL.
