Aplin, Johanna Shaw, 90 years old of Lutz, FL, passed away on Friday, November 19, 2021. She was born and raised in Tampa, where she attended and graduated from Hillsborough High School. She met the love of her life, Holland, and the two were married in 1948. They raised their three children in Tampa while they both worked for Hillsborough County School System. Johanna was a secretary for 13 years and retired to spend more time with family and friends. She loved cheering her two sons and daughter on in their sports/activities and it continued on when she became a grandmother, “Mema!” She would often be the loudest cheerleader at all her grandchildren’s events. Johanna loved football and was known for holding her own in the weekly football pool, and recently won this season’s pool! She loved cheering on the University of Tampa basketball in the past, and moving on to enjoying the Florida Gators, Auburn Tigers, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Dallas Cowboys, University of South Florida Bulls, Robinson Knights and Chamberlain Chiefs High Schools, Florida State Seminoles baseball, and Arkansas State football.

In her younger years, she enjoyed playing golf, water skiing, and traveling, especially to Las Vegas. More than anything, she loved her family and friends, and treated friends of her children like family, as well. She loved spending time with family and enjoyed staying in contact and up to date with everyone on Facebook.

Johanna is preceded in death by her loving husband, Holland Aplin; (Parents), Alfred and Mattie Shaw;(Sisters), Shirley Shaw Holsomback and Joyce Shaw Hamby; (Brother-in-laws), Bobby Gonzalez, Grady Hamby and Ira Sides.

She is survived by her loving children, Doug Aplin, (Debra); Greg Aplin, (Nancy); and Cindi Aplin Garcia. Sisters, Sandra Gonzalez and Lola Sides, and brother-in-law, Robert Holsomback. Grandchildren, Ashley Allcorn, (Zane); Ryan Aplin, (Tori); Derek Garcia, Rhett Aplin, (Ally); Tyler Garcia, and Carlye Aplin. Great-grandchildren, Maverick Aplin, Hawkins Aplin, Davis Allcorn, and Naomi Aplin, with two on the way.

A celebration of life to honor Johanna will take place from 9:00-10:00 for visitation, and service will be held from 10:00-11:00, on Friday, January 7th, 2022.

A private inurnment will take place in Bushnell at the Florida National Cemetery where Johanna will be placed with her loving husband, Holland.
