

John L. Little Jr. 77, of Tampa, Florida, passed away peacefully on June 20, 2023. He was born on October 26, 1945 in Tampa, Florida to Antoinette Lena Little and John L. Little Sr. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to many. John went home to be with the Lord after a long battle with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
He received his early education at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Stephen Foster Elementary School and Sligh Junior High School; he later graduated from Hillsborough High School, where he has recently been a member of the Hillsborough High Alumni Association. He continued his pursuit of knowledge at Saint Petersburg Junior College and the esteemed University of South Florida. He was a passionate and dedicated General Contractor for over 40 Years. He began his career in construction in 1972, building single-family homes with Lamonte-Shimberg Corporation. He then worked for Hillsborough County Building and Zoning Department before continuing his career with Plantation Homes and Paul J. Sierra Construction. John eventually retired as a self-employed General Contractor.
John is survived by his beloved wife, of 41 and a half years, Cathy Little; three daughters: Jana O’Connor (son-in-law Patrick O’Connor), Jordan Little, Jill Waters (son-in-law Christopher Waters); his four grandsons, Luca and Sam Valenti, AJ Vicheto, and Braden Waters; his sister, Brenda Griffin, brother-in-law Lindy and their son Adam Griffin (Lindsay Griffin) and daughter Carly Griffin.
His dear mother, Antoinette Lena Little; his father, John L. Little Sr.; and his brother, Ira Louis Little preceded him in death. John will always be remembered for his sense of humor, unwavering love for his family, his zest for history and travel, his passion for music and a love for dancing. His absence here will be deeply felt and missed by his family and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
The family would like to extend thanks to the staff at Suncoast Hospice of Hillsborough Care Center at St. Joseph’s Hospital for their dedicated comfort, care and support.
A Visitation will be held to honor John’s life on Friday July 28, 2023 at 1:00 PM with a Celebration of Life Service at 2:00 PM at Blount and Curry Funeral Home at Garden of Memories, 4207 E. Lake Ave. Tampa, Florida 33610.
