Katherine C. Higgins

HIGGINS, Katherine C., passed away July 22, 2015, after a lengthy illness. Born in Niles, California, she moved to Quakertown, Pennsylvania, as a teenager, and on to Tampa after graduating from high school. She worked for the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers as a Stenographer. In 1948, she married Fred T. Higgins (Air Traffic Controller). Katherine and Fred lived in Wellswood for many years, raising their children among wonderful friends and neighbors. She is preceded in death by her husband, Fred T. Higgins, in 1976, and is survived by sons, Jack Higgins (Melda) and Patrick Higgins (Truly); daughter, Patti Higgins Schmidt (Perry); grandchildren, Rebecca Higgins True (Travis), Rob Higgins (Casey), Ryan Higgins (Kelly), Lani Higgins Gregory (Scott), Kelli Schmidt Heath (John) and four great-grandchildren, Laney, Landon, Leah and Lauren. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to your favorite charity or perform a random act of kindness in her memory. Visitation with family will begin at 9:30 a.m. with a funeral Mass immediately following at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 25, 2015, at St. Mary Catholic Church, 15520 North Boulevard, Tampa, Florida 33613. Burial will be at Myrtle Hill Memorial Park.
