Margaret Marshall Miller Mansmann, 90, of Rangeley, Maine, passed away on April 13, 2016. She is preceded in death by her loving husband of sixty years, Herbert Charles Mansmann Jr. She is survived by her five sons Herbert, Kevin, Paris Taylor, Ian and John, as well as, her daughter, Margaret Karen. Also surviving are her fourteen grand children and six great-grandchildren. Margaret had kindness, generosity, and an optimism that touched a great many lives. She was born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA, and graduated from Carnegie Mellon University. She was a member of St. Luke's Roman Catholic Church in Rangeley, ME. She was an avid reader, often finishing a book a day for most of her life. She loved mysteries most of all. She was an excellent cook and her favorite meal was roast beef and Yorkshire pudding. A favorite of the family was her specialty, a homemade chocolate sauce, served on vanilla ice cream. She was a self-proclaimed "choc-oholic". She was kind to animals, owning many pets over her life from German Shepherds to several horses. She loved to ride and claimed that her longevity and great health was attributed to mucking out her own stalls for many years. She enjoyed nature, sometimes saying she felt closest to God while in the woods or fields. She spent every summer for the last forty-plus years in the backwoods of Maine at the former Camp Mitigwa on Dodge Pond near the town of Rangeley. Margaret loved her family most of all and built a home with her husband at this same location where family and friends could visit and create special memories. Her hope was that Mitigwa would continue to be a place for everyone to gather for generations to come.
