
Margaret lived the majority of her life just a block off the Bayshore in Tampa, a view that she always loved and never grew tired of. She graduated from the Academy of Holy Names in 1949 and received her B.S. in Education from the University of Florida in 1953. Subsequently, she attended Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana receiving a Masters degree in Social Work. She began her career as an elementary
school teacher in Winter Haven, Florida but spent most of it working as an adoptions specialist for the state of Florida in Tampa. After retiring from the state, she continued as an independent adoptions facilitator. She enjoyed advocating for children. She is pre-deceased by her father and mother, her brother Joseph S. Murphy, Jr. and a nephew, John Murphy.
She is survived by her brother, Frank P. Murphy M.D. of Lakeland, Florida and nephews Frank P. Murphy, Jr., Joe Murphy, Stephen Murphy, Sean Murphy, Kevin Murphy, Daniel Murphy and Brian Murphy. Also nieces Eileen Murphy, Catherine Murphy-Johnson, Maureen Swindall, Christine Bassaber and Patricia Murphy. In addition, she is survived by a large number of great nephews and nieces some of whom
also have children.
A graveside memorial service will be held at Myrtle Hill Cemetery in Tampa, Florida on Sunday, November 25 at 3:00 P.M. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Blount & Curry Funeral Home at Garden of Memories 4207 E. Lake Ave., Tampa, FL 33610.
