

Maria was born in La Riera de Somiedo, Asturias, España. She later built a life in Tampa, Florida, where she dedicated herself to her family and caring for others through her work. Maria was a registered nurse who graduated from nursing school in Valladolid, España, and was also a licensed midwife. She served the Tampa community for many years at St Joseph's Hospital, as an operating room nurse, and first assistant. Her career reflected her lifelong commitment to helping others.
She is survived By the loving daughter Theresa Sierra and son-in-law Frank Sierra. She was a proud and devoted grandmother to Lia Marie Sierra, Frank J. Sierra III, Kathryn Sierra Prado, Olivia Theresa Ann Sierra, and Carla Alexis Sierra. She was also blessed with two great grandchildren, Lelo James Prado and Emma Teresa Prado. She is also survived by her sister, Margarita Baredo Rodriguez. Maria was preceded in death by her beloved husband Carlos Suarez and her siblings, Manolo Barredo and Julia Barredo Flores.
Maria led a very healthy lifestyle. She was an avid runner who participated in many races over the years. She enjoyed spending time in her yard and took great pride in her home. Above all, Maria loved her family. Whenever her five grandchildren were at school events, sports, or special moments, you could always find her cheering them on. She never missed an opportunity to support the people she loved. Maria was a faithful member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church. Her strength, devotion, and love for her family will be remembered always by those who knew her. .
A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, 5225 N Himes Ave, Tampa, FL 33614, US, on March 20, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am.
Burial will take place at Myrtle Hill Memorial Park, 4202 E Lake Ave, Tampa, FL 33610, US, on March 20, 2026, from 12:00 pm to 12:30 pm.
