Marilyn J. (Elliott) Emerson went home to be with Jesus on October 20, 2023. Marilyn was born in Paterson, NJ, and grew up in Matawan where she met the love of her life, the late Robert “Bob/Goldie" Emerson. After marrying, they relocated to Tampa, and Marilyn devoted her life to being an amazing mother and "Mema." Her sweet and gentle spirit was a godly example to all who knew her.
Marilyn is survived by her children: Glenn (Trisha) Emerson of Wauchula, Bruce Emerson of Clearwater Beach, and Jill (Eric) Pratt of Tallahassee. Mema also leaves behind eight grandchildren: Erica (Jeremy) Smithberger, Elisa (Jason) Bradstreet, Evan Emerson, Samantha Emerson, Jordan (Christine) Pratt, Joshua (Annalise) Pratt, Jillian Pratt, and Hunter (Allie) Pratt, as well as 15 great-grandchildren.
Marilyn was predeceased by her husband Robert B. Emerson, and siblings Michael Elliott, Sharon Van Worp, and Johnny Elliott, and survived by brother Henry Elliott.
Visitation will be at Blount & Curry Funeral Home, 3207 W. Bearss Ave., Tampa, on Thursday, October 26, from 5:30 to 7:30 PM. The immediate family will hold a private graveside service.
