Mary Brate, 79 of Tampa, FL. passed away on April 30, 2024. Born in Abilene, TX, Mary then attended Academy of the Holy Names and DePaul University. She was very proud to have worked as a teacher for Hillsborough County for 30 years. She loved reading, entertaining family, and playing bingo.
Mary is preceded in death by John and Mary Morbach, Melville & Lillie Brate, brother, Hank Morbach (Ellen), brother in law, Chuck Gustaitis (Teresa). She is survived by, her loving husband, Robert Brate; son, Robert “Bobby” Brate (Liz Morales); son Michael and his wife Fernanda Brate; sister, Teresa Gustaitis; sister, Margaret Weatherby (Larry); brother, Joe Morbach; brother, Michael Morbach (Kathy); grandchildren, Ruhawmy Mejia, Isabel Mejia and Angel Brate; great grandchildren, Ruhawmy Mejia and Ruamina Mejia.
A celebration of life for Mary will be held Saturday, May 18, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM at Blount & Curry Funeral Home-Carrollwood, 3207 W Bearss Ave, Tampa, FL 33618. A prayer service will begin at 11:30am with gathering and sharing of memories to following.
