

EDSON, Retta Virginia (Jinnie), 93, was born on October 13, 1921 in Junction City, Ohio to the late Harley Poling and Zona Drawdy Poling. She passed away on November 5, 2014 at Florida Hospital in Tampa. Retta grew up in Lancaster, Ohio and relocated to the Tampa area in 1958. She lived life to the fullest, traveling the world over with her friends and family. Retta volunteered as a Pink Lady at Tampa General Hospital, Ronald McDonald House on Davis Island where she volunteered over 1000 hours and the Children’s Cancer Center. She enjoyed getting together with her friends for game nights, playing Bunko, Bridge and even celebrated New Year’s Eve playing poker with the ladies. In addition to her parents, Retta is preceded in death by her husband Clayton D. Edson. She is survived by her children, Barbara Lee Edson-Jones and husband Ken and Stephen D. Edson and wife Cathy; grandchildren, Dorothy Lee Schroeder and husband Charles and their children Alyssa, Brianna and Emma and Matthew Edson and wife Jodie and their children Cole and Paige. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews. The family would like to give a special thanks to all the staff at University Village and all the doctors and nurses for the wonderful care that she received at Florida Hospital and Hospice for their help in her final care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Retta’s name to the charity of your choice. A Celebration of Life will be held from 2-4 PM on Saturday, November 22, 2014 at the Fellowship Lodge 265 F&AM, 306 N. Lincoln Ave, Tampa, FL 33609.
