Robert William DeGuenther

Robert W. DeGuenther Sr. was born on February 27, 1930. Robert was a resident of Tampa, Florida. He passed away peacefully at home in December 11，2025, at the age of 95. He surrounded by his beloved wife Lixia Zhang and his devoted parents-in-law. He was a loving husband, a proud father and grandfather, and a man whose life was guided by honor, compassion, and service.

Robert proudly served in the United States Army, enlisting in 1946 as a World War II and Korean War veteran. He served with the 504th Airborne Infantry Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division, receiving the World War II Victory Medal. In 1950, he continued his service with the 7th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Infantry Division during the Korean War and was awarded the Korean Campaign Ribbon with one Bronze Battle Star, the Bronze Star Medal, the Combat Infantryman Badge, and the Korean Service Medal with one Bronze Service Star. He was also Awarded with Distinction, 7th U.S. Infantry, Korea.

Robert earned his MBA from the University of South Florida (USF) and was inducted into the prestigious Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi. He was an entrepreneur and dedicated public servant with the City of Tampa and Hillsborough County, including service on the Hillsborough County Civil Service Board in 1979, and retired from the City of Tampa.

A lifelong learner and global citizen, Robert taught English in South America and China, volunteered for many years in Brazil and Tampa, and traveled extensively. Twenty-three years ago, he met the love of his life, Lixia Zhang, in China. Their marriage was built on deep respect, devotion, and companionship.

Robert is survived by his beloved wife Lixia Zhang, his son Robert W DeGuenther Jr., and two cherished grandsons.

A private family graveside memorial service will be held on Saturday January 17, 2026, at Garden of Memories, 4207 E. Lake Avenue, Tampa, FL 33610
