

passed away on May 24, 2024, at the age of 95. Born in Chicago, Illinois in 1928, Walters
embarked on a remarkable journey that spanned multiple careers and passions. After initially
pursuing a career as a professional drummer in the late 1940s, Walters served in the Air Force
and in the Army in the 1950s. His love for golf eventually led him to Florida in 1962, where he
joined the Professional Golf Association and was a golf professional at Delray Country Club in
Delray Beach, FL. In 1964, Walters moved to Ocala, becoming the head golf pro at Golden Hills
Country Club. His journey continued in 1970 when he arrived in Tampa to take on the role of
head golf pro at Quail Hollow. In the late 1970’s, he was the general manager of Sunset Hills
and Camarillo, two golf clubs northwest of Los Angeles, before moving back to Tampa where he
became his good friend Joe Casper’s personal golf instructor. Together they played golf across
the country, with Maui being Walters' favorite destinaton. Walters had a passion for sailing and
could be seen in the Gulf waters near Clearwater in the 1980’s and for aviation which led him to
become a private pilot for a decade, further enriching his life experiences.
In 1964, he married the love of his life, Barbara Iglehart, in Delray Beach, a union that lasted
un9l his passing. He is survived by his sons Scott Walters and Chris Walters, step-sons Greg
Iglehart (Tracey), and Stewart D. Iglehart (Stacey) and his grandchildren Allison Iglehart Kaden
(Tom), Austin Iglehart (Hannah), and Stephen. Walters will be laid to rest in Delray Beach,
Florida. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Southeastern Guide Dogs,
4210 77th St. E, Palmetto, FL 34221, a cause close to his heart. The medical staff at Pruitt
Health, who provided exceptional care to Walters during his final nine months, will be forever
remembered for their compassion and dedication.
Ronald B. Walters' life was a testament to his unwavering spirit, his love for golf, and his
commitment to living life to the fullest. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and the
golfing community he served with distinction for over six decades
