Roy M. Whidden, Jr. 86 passed away on May 24, 2015. He was born in Tampa, FL on July 28, 1928 to Roy and Vela Whidden. He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Lee Whidden, a sister Mary Frances Chambers, and a son John R. Whidden. Mr. Whidden is survived by son, Robert F. McKenzie of Ridge Manor, daughter, Laura Whidden of Tampa, sister, Miriam Blessinger of Nancy, KY and sister-in-law Frances Whidden of Tampa, three grand, two great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Whidden lived most of his life in Tampa and was a Baptist. He was enlisted into the US Navy in 1945 and served with the Occupation Forces in the Asian Theatre at the close of WWII. Mr Whidden was a Master Mason. He was a Past Patron of Harmony Chapter, OES. In Addition, he was a Past W.O.S. of Lebanon Shrine. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a donation be made to woundedwarriorproject.org. The family will receive friends on Wednesday , May 27, 2015 from 10:00AM until time of service at 11:00AM at the Garden of Memories Funeral Home, 4207 E Lake Ave., Tampa. Interment will follow in Garden of Memories Cemetery
