Sandra was born in Tampa, Florida, where she grew up and later graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School. She built a life rooted in faith, family, and service. Sandra dedicated many years of her career to St. Joseph’s Hospital, where she worked in medical billing and formed lasting relationships with colleagues and patients alike.
A woman of deep faith, Sandra was actively involved in her church community, most recently at Hopewell Baptist Church after moving to Lithia. She was known for her generous spirit, unwavering love, and the way she showed up for others. To her family, she was more than a mother—she was a guiding light, a devoted sister, and a cherished aunt, cousin, friend, and “Mimi” who poured love into every generation.
Sandra was preceded in death by her father, Reynardo Lopez (1990); her mother, Dahlia Perez Gonzalez (2011); her sister, Jan Lopez Burke (2018); and her daughter-in-law, Deana Cuevas (2020).
She is survived by her loving son, Ricardo “Richard” Cuevas (Nancy Martoglio); her sister, Valda Gonzalez (James Ulick); five siblings from the Lopez family; and many cousins, nieces, great nieces, nephews, great nephews, and extended family members who will continue to carry her memory forward.
Pallbearers will be Louis Garcia, Jorge Garcia, Rene Fuentes, Jamie Ulick, Michael Gregorio and Joseph Braun.
The family extends their most heartfelt appreciation to the compassionate hospice nurses, Leanne and Diane; the incredible Brenda Simmons of Hopewell Baptist Church; and the many friends and family members who surrounded Sandra with love and care over the years.
