Sandra "Sandy" L. Loughrie, age 80, of Tampa, Florida passed away on Wednesday, April 27, 2022 with her loving family by her side. She is reunited with her daughter Kim Brannan who passed away in 2007. Her family left to cherish her memories includes her daughter Kelly Szala and Kelly's husband Jeff, Kim's husband Chuck, and grandchildren: Chase Brannan, Lauren Szala, and Rachel Szala.
Sandy was born August 7, 1941 in Youngstown, Ohio. She graduated from Youngstown State University with a degree in education and later completed her doctorate in accounting at Nova Southeastern University. She played many roles in her life that include teacher, accountant, and real estate broker. From being a caring teacher to a wise accountant, she was passionate in all she did. However, her favorite roles were that of a mother, grandmother, and friend. Sandy was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Tampa for over 50 years. She was resolute in her faith and her relationship with Jesus Christ, her savior.
She was known to be loyal, strong, intelligent, focused, and positive, but, importantly, loving of those around her (…and chocolate).
A Celebration of Life will be held 11 a.m., Monday, May 2, 2022 in the Worship Center at First Baptist Church of Tampa, 302 West Kennedy Ave, Tampa, FL 33606.
In lieu of flowers, please send any donations to the Human Society of Tampa Bay in honor of her love for animals.
