Stephen Michael Croy

Steve graduated from Hillsborough High School, Class of 1975, where he met the love of his life, Maria. They were married for 49 years and built a life rooted in faith, service, and family.

Steve proudly served the City of Tampa Fire Rescue from 1981 until his retirement in 2010. A dedicated and respected firefighter, he retired as a Fire Captain from Station 17, Marine Division, on Davis Islands. His commitment to public service and the safety of his community defined his career and legacy.

Steve is survived by his loving wife, Maria; his son, Stephen Croy, Jr.; his mother, Frances; his brother-in-law, Anthony Gonzalez (Terri); his sister-in-law, Marybeth McDade; and his nephews, Eric McDade, A.J. Gonzalez (Cynthia), Tyler Gonzalez (Teresita), and grand-nephew and grand-niece, Oliver and Violet Gonzalez.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday February 21, 2026, at 9:45 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, 15520 North Boulevard, Tampa, Florida 33613. Interment will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery.
