Steven Gilbert Casellas

Steven Gilbert Casellas passed away on June 20, 2021 after a long and hard fought battle with cancer. Steve was born in Ybor City on March 9, 1966 to John G. and Yolanda (née Panier) Casellas, both deceased. He completed his elementary education at Sacred Heart Academy and continued his education at Hillsborough High School. He was a dedicated employee serving as Manager of the family-owned business, Alvarez Dry Cleaners and Laundry, located on 7th Avenue in Ybor City. Steve was a man of many talents, but mostly, he had a brilliant mind, quick wit and an ability to answer difficult questions about almost any subject. He had a mind of his own and lived life his way. His decisions could not be deterred or swayed. He had a heart of gold and would do anything for anyone who asked for assistance; blessing him with an enormous number of dedicated friends from all walks of life. He loved his family but was especially devoted to and proud of his children.

Steve leaves behind his daughter, Elizabeth Victoria Casellas (Jerry); son, Javon Casellas; daughter, Alexia Casellas; two grandsons, Jerry Pagan, Javon Casellas, Jr.; brother, Gilbert Casellas (Ada) of Chevy Chase, Maryland; sister, Belinda Casellas-Allen (Emilio, deceased); sister, Victoria Casellas Rowland (David) of Franklin, NC; nephew, Jason Gilbert Allen (Kimberly); nieces, Maria Elena “Mimi” Allen, Marisa Casellas-Barnes (George), their families; and a tremendously large family of loving cousins.

A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, July 3, 2021 at Blount & Curry Funeral Home at Garden of Memories, Interment to follow in Garden of Memories Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
