Mama, you lived a life full of adventure. You were always fiercely protective of your family and loved ones. I hope that your protective nature continues as our guardian angel. We will miss and love you forever, Mom.

Saying Goodbye to Someone you love is never easy. Especially when you’re so full of life, Sylvia loved playing Bingo, sewing, dancing and cooking! She had Audrey, Denise, Tina, Kevin and Nicole, which we had the honor of adding to my family and growing up together. I know She is happy to be with Benny and Gloria her parents in Heaven.  May her Memory be eternal.

Aunt Sylvia, I remember making all of you pose for this picture and how much we laughed, it's one of my favorites.  When I was a little girl, I spent many nights at your house on Cooledge Street, and you introduced me to cafe con leche and buttered Cuban bread...it changed my world. You've been a part of my life since I was born, and I will miss you. Love you. Rest in peace.

One song keeps echoing in my heart: “Thinking Outside the Grave” by Master's Voice. For those in Christ, death is not the end—it’s just the beginning.

This week, my Mamaw has left her earthly home and stepped into the arms of our Lord. As we prepare to lay her body to rest, my heart is full—full of grief, full of memories, and full of hope.

Bennie asked me, “Momma, why are people dying?” It’s a hard question, but I told him the truth: because of sin, we live in a fallen world. Death is now part of life—something we never fully understand, even as adults. I was just 7 when I experienced my first loss, and 25 before the next. I was blessed with time and the presence of so many that others have been denied. Since then so many good byes 4 great-grandparents, 6 grandparents, my dad, 5 uncles, 3 aunts, and Jeremiah.

Each goodbye has deepened my faith. I cling to God’s promises and the hope that those who knew Him are now worshiping at His feet. One day, I believe we’ll be reunited to sing His praises together.

1 Thessalonians 4:13–14 (NKJV):“But I do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning those who have fallen asleep, lest you sorrow as others who have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who sleep in Jesus.”

So until that day, I hold onto the memories, pray for those still with us, and rest in the peace only He can give.

To Mama from your oldest daughter. You were a very young mother and all my friends thought you were my sister. Sometimes it was fun and other times irritating but it always made my friends laugh & tease me. 
I'm happy that you're now able to rest in peace. No more pain or suffering. We love you & I'll miss your visits to my house and all the things we'd talk about. Tell Abuelo and Abuela we miss them & send our love. You are in paradise now.
