
De St Jean, Thomas Edwin (Ted), 64 of Lutz, FL entered into rest on Saturday, September 16, 2017. He was born in Fort Knox, KY to the late Thomas Raymond De St Jean and Patricia Devers De St Jean, and raised in Gary/Merrillville IN. Tom graduated from Merrillville High School in 1970 and continued on to earn his bachelor’s degree from Indiana University. Tom started his career at Time Inc. His position with them took him to Chicago, the city that he loved, until he relocated to Tampa, FL in 1987. This is where he made his home, and would continue to reside for 30 years. Tom spent 28 years with Time, before retiring, where he enjoyed his days driving a school bus. Tom drove for Hillsborough County School and loved spending time with the kids during all of their activities and trips. Tom was known by all who loved him as a kind and respectable man, always ready to lend a hand where needed, and a friend to everyone he met. His unwavering commitment to all of his endeavors was admired by those around him. Tom believed very strongly in the importance of family, and would travel to spend time with his as often as possible. His passion for IU sports was unparalleled, and he relished anytime he would run into another IU supporter in FL. Tom's other interests ranged from cooking and gardening to traveling. Tom leaves behind his life partner of 42 years, James Sullivan; siblings, Sandi (Alan) Ebeling, David (Chris) De St Jean and Sheila (Scott) Mann; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at Burns Funeral Home, 10101 Broadway, Crown Point, IN, 46307.
