Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Lauretta Stenglein; his sister, Mary Madler; and his brother, Daniel Stenglein.
He was born on February 22, 1947, in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He is survived by his wife, Arleen Stenglein, two daughters: Tammy Clarke (Walter) and Shelly Hill (John); four grandchildren: Riley Clarke, Jackson Clarke, Zak Hill, and Zoey Hill; sister, Paula Duffield (Dennis); brothers: Doug Stenglein (Alice), Joseph Stenglein (Rose), and Timothy Stenglein (Michelle); sister-in-law, Diana Stenglein; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged after serving four years. After his time in the service, his passion for carpentry work led him and his partners to open S&S Craftsmen, a very successful architectural millworking company in Tampa, Florida. It was from here that he retired after 35 years at the age of 70.
Tom was a hardworking man who lived for his family. He thoroughly enjoyed remodeling at his home or at one of his daughters' homes. He loved the Christmas season and created beautiful decorations for his and his daughters’ homes. When he wasn’t busy in his workshop, you could find him at one of his grandchildren’s many sports events, soaking up the sun on Indian Rocks Beach, playing the slot machines at the Hard Rock Casino, or accompanying his wife during one of her many shopping sprees. But more than anything, he enjoyed vacationing and spending time with his family.
A celebration of life for Thomas will be held Saturday, August 27, 2022, from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at: Blount & Curry Funeral Home at Garden of Memories 4207 East Lake Avenue Tampa, FL 33610.
