

Virginia M. McDonald went home to be with the Lord on Friday, February 22, 2019. Ginny was born in Buffalo, NY on March 24, 1931 to Alvin and Leah Musselman. The family moved to Grundy, VA during the Great Depression, but settled in Tampa where her father, Alvin, started Musselman Steel Fabricators.
Ginny was a graduate of H.B. Plant High School in 1949 where she was a member of the R.O.T.C. Following high school she attended Florida State University, was an active member of Zeta Tau Alpha sorority and met her future husband, Dellwood McDonald. She graduated in 1954 with a B.S. in education. Ginny and Dellwood wed on December 22, 1955 at First Christian Church in Tampa and celebrated 62 years of marriage. Prior to opening and operating The Island Gifts on Davis Island, Ginny taught for the Hillsborough County School for 15 years. She was a member of the Palma Ceia Country Club, Tampa Women’s Club, Ye Mystic Crew of Venus, and the 49er’s Club.
In 1999, Virginia and Dellwood moved to the Brandon area where she volunteered for the Brandon Regional Hospital managing the gift shop. She was a member of First Christian Church for over 40 years where she was apart of the Adult Choir, various youth groups, and the Cornerstone Adult Education class.
While living in Brandon, Virginia attended First Methodist Church of Brandon. She is preceeded in death by her husband, Dellwood, father, Alvin Musselman, mother, Leah Musselman, and sister, Doris Larmon. She is survived by her son, Roy McDonald, daughter-in-law, Lisa McDonald, and granddaughters, Taylor and Shelby McDonald. Services will be held on March 9, 2019 at Blount Curry Funeral Home, 3207 West Bearss Avenue. Visitation is 10:00-11:00am with the service to follow at 11:00am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Byrd Alzheimer’s Center and Research Institute/USF Health.
