

THOMPSON, VIVIAN LOIS WALKER, beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend, passed away peacefully on May 24, 2016. She loved her family, friends, sports and animals and was always willing to lend a hand to those in need. Vivian was born outside of McRae, Georgia, on June 8, 1930; moving to Florida at the age of 13. She attended Haines City High School where she excelled in volleyball. Vivian graduated from Gordon Keller School of Nursing with an RN degree. She was employed as the industrial nurse at Joseph Schlitz Brewing Company for over 30 years and was head nurse at Tampa Stadium. Vivian formerly taught Sunday school at Oak Grove United Methodist Church. In addition, she was a past Girl Scout leader (Troop 199) known as “Band-Aid,” and was past Senior Regent of the Women of the Moose, Chapter 1763. Vivian is survived by her children, Teresa (Terry) Thompson, Patricia (Patty and Wayne) Metziere and William A. (Bill) Thompson; grandchildren, Matthew (Nikki) Metziere, Marcus Metziere, Maggie (Luke) Hinchliffe, all of Tampa, and Dana Thompson of Orlando, FL; great- grandchildren, Madison and Mya Metziere; brother, William Walker of Lakeland, FL; “adopted” daughters, Genie Emerson and Carol Carter Vassey; along with many extended family members. Visitation will be held at Blount & Curry Funeral Home Carrollwood Chapel, 3207 W. Bearss Avenue, on Friday, May 27, 2016 from 5-7pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Vivian’s name to the USF School of Nursing, your local hospice or the animal organization of your choosing. Always in our hearts, never forgotten.
