William E Schauer Jr.

Schauer, William Edward (Bill), 73, passed away peacefully on November 16, 2010. He is survived by his wife, Joyce Timpson Schauer; beloved Shih Tzu, Rocky; son, William Schauer III (Michele); three grandchildren, Ellie, Matthew and Marshall; sisters, Judie Wiener Schauer and Gayle Ryan. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lorraine Zeigler Schauer and William E. Schauer, Sr. He served in the U.S. Navy for ten years where he specialized in Aviation Electronics. He then enjoyed an exciting career in IBM; mostly in the Field Engineering Division, with assignments in Chicago, New York, Raleigh and Tampa. He often reflected on the wonderful opportunities he had for advancement and travel in IBM when the company was in its “glory days”, and referred to his IBM career as “one hell of a ride”. He was a truly unique individual who left a lasting impression on the people who knew him well. He was an avid photographer; loved PCs and gadgets; and loved surf fishing for Big Blues at the Outer Banks of North Carolina. No public services will be held.
