Bill was a mischievous kid with a wonderful sense of humor, amusing both family members and classmates with his hysterical antics and dramatic stories. In high school, Bill discovered his life-long love of music when his mother gave him an acoustic guitar and a Mel Bay self-teaching booklet. That guitar gave way to a passion for music and an uncanny ability to pick up nearly any instrument placed in front of him and play it immediately. He went from that single guitar to electric guitars, to keyboards, to participating in rock bands and rock battles. He eventually majored in music at the University of South Florida, graduating with a BA in music education in 1990. He taught music in the Hillsborough County School system for several years before creating his own company, “ScullSound”. ScullSound was an independent recording studio allowing clients to submit very rough cuts of self-created songs, and Bill would remaster them, adding guitars, vocals, drums, and keyboard backgrounds, resulting in a richly engineered demo tape a client could proudly share with others. His love of music included creating several albums, including “Spiritual Mountains”, a beloved set of songs expressing his faith journey.
Bill’s faith journey also brought him to serve in missions, most especially in the capacity of a music minister, which he enjoyed on his mission trip to Guyana. Bill enjoyed his life as a parent to his son Daniel, the joy of his life, and his precious dog, Chichi. He also enjoyed fishing, biking, riding on his Harley, spending time with his family, and trying out (and fully enjoying) all the food world had to offer. He lived life with a beautiful balance of humor, fun, and laughter…and simply loved being surrounded by the family that loved him so.
He is survived by his mother, Marie Scull; his sister, Laurie Easterlin (Abbot); his brother, Jim Scull (Hiroe); his son Daniel, and several nieces and nephews.
May heaven reverberate with his laughter and music.
