Wilma was born in Mondovi, Wisconsin to Hugo and Cleo (Jost) Pfund on March 17, 1927. Raised on the family farm, she joined the Cadet Army Nursing Corps in 1943 and became a registered nurse at Madison General Hospital in Madison, Wisconsin, where she met James R. Price, Jr., an engineering student at UW Madison, and whom she married on March 19,1949 in Gilmanton, Wisconsin.
Wilma and Jim moved from Milwaukee to Detroit and then Philadelphia, with Wilma working in hospitals and Jim pursuing his engineering career. They began their family in Philadelphia, where she gave birth to her son and daughter.
In 1953 they moved back to Wisconsin, ultimately settling in Brookfield in 1957. For the next 20 years, as her husband built Price Engineering Company, Wilma kept their home, served in her local Episcopal parish church, anchored a women’s bowling team, and volunteered at Planned Parenthood. When her children left for college, she worked for a doctor in Milwaukee for many years.
She and Jim had an active social life. They were avid theater goers, had season tickets to the Milwaukee Bucks and a very close circle of friends, with whom they bowled, traveled, made movies, had monthly bridge games and held costume parties every New Year’s Eve.
In 1980 she and Jim began to split their time between Brookfield and Saddlebrook, in Wesley Chapel, Florida where they settled full-time in 2000.
Wilma was preceded in death by her husband Jim, who died three days before her.
Wilma is survived by her children James R Price, III (Vieve Radha) and Laural Jeanne Portz (James); Grandchildren Jessica Portz Birken, Devon Price (Evie Gibelly), Caitlin Price (Peter Bayne), Aaron Portz (Cherry Ortega), and Megan Price (Marc Weiner);
