

Adeline Sylvia (Zach) Vitek passed away April 22, 2017 at the Wesleyan Nursing Facility in Georgetown. She was born September 10, 1929 to the late Frank and Rosa (Simcik) Zach in Agua Dulce, Texas and was baptized in the Robstown Brethren Church. She was confirmed on August 9, 1942 in the Taylor Brethren Church and was a member of the Granger Brethren Church.
Adeline was preceded in death by her husband Emil August and siblings: infant brother Emil Zach, Rosalie (Zetak) Haisler, Johnny Zetak, Joe Zetak, and son-in-law John Trevino.
She is survived by her son, Robert Vitek and wife Vickie, daughters Diana Beran and husband Jimmie, and Judith Trevino; grandchildren Greg Beran, David Schwitzer, Robert “Matthew” Vitek, and Zachary Vitek.
Adeline attended Agua Dulce Public School through the sixth grade where she was a member of the rhythm band and was also in the 30-member orchestra in Robstown, playing the violin. In 1941, she and her parents moved to Jarrell and two years later to Granger where she attended Granger High School. She later went on to achieve her GED. She met Emil in 1944, they were married on August 21, 1945. Emil and Adeline farmed until 1961 when the family moved into town. She worked and later became manager of the Granger Rexall Pharmacy until it closed. Afterwards, she worked at the Granger Rest Home as a nurses aid, and was the Administrative Assistant at the Oakwood Personal Care Home until it closed in 2002. She loved to cook, bake and can vegetables from Emil’s garden and was an avid reader and loved all types of crossword puzzles.
Serving as pallbeares will be Greg Beran, David Schwitzer, Matthew Vitek, Zachary Vitek, Melvin Volek, and Darwin Zrubek. Honorary pallbeares will be Albert Haisler Jr., Eugene Zrubek, Dannie Volek, August Vitek, and Glenn Green.
Visitation will be held starting at 9:00 a.m. Thursday, April 27 followed by a celebration of life services at 10:00 a.m., Condra Funeral Home, Taylor. Graveside services at Taylor City Cemetery will follow immediately. If you wish to honor her memory, memorial donations may be made to the Granger Brethren Church, the Taylor Brethren Church, or the Wesleyan at Scenic in Georgetown.
