

Anna Rose Tucek Sladek, 94, passed away on April 26, 2014, in Round Rock, Texas. Anna was a lifelong resident of Taylor, Texas. She was born on January 27, 1920, the second child of George and Adela Dusek Tucek. On June 28, 1941, she married T.W. (Ted) Sladek. They had been married for more than 53 years when he passed away on April 15, 1995.
During the 1950s, Anna worked as an aide at a nursing home and a hospital in Taylor; in the 1960s she began working at the University of Texas, retiring in 1982 as a Custodial Supervisor.
Her family and friends enjoyed her homemade angel food and chiffon cakes, coconut cream and lemon meringue pies, and kolaches (although she always said her kolaches were not as good as her mother’s). Her friends at Stepping Stone Apartments would ask her to make her turkey and dressing for their monthly luncheons. She made many beautiful quilts during her lifetime and enjoyed making special quilts for her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Adela Tucek; husband, Ted Sladek; son, Edwin Sladek; sisters, Georgie Kincl and husband Arnold and Ruby Lange and husband Marvin; and brother, Frank Tucek and wife Marietta.
She is survived by son, Ken Sladek and wife Gail; grandson, Todd Sladek and wife Marlo; granddaughters, Allison Grose and husband Gary, Brianna Daniels and husband Christopher; great-grandsons, Garrett and Carson Grose; step-great-granddaughters, Samantha and Taylor Hinojosa; brother, Jerome Tucek and wife Yvonne; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 6–8 p.m. Tuesday, April 29, 2014, at Condra Funeral Home in Taylor. Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, April 30, 2014, at Condra Funeral Home followed by burial at Taylor City Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Todd Sladek, Gary Grose, Christopher Daniels, Randall Tucek, Willie Gore, and James Campbell.
The family would like to thank the staff of Park Valley Inn at Round Rock and Girling Hospice Texas for their compassionate care of Anna.
