Barbara Barabas

Barbara “Izora” Barabas, age 83, of Holland passed away Saturday Feburary 22, 2014 in Temple, TX. She was born March 10, 1930, to Dayton Kyle Cothren and Pauline McDaniel Cothren in Lufkin, TX. She married Adolph Edward Barabas on February 22, 1948. To her son’s friends she was known as Mama Barabas because she treated them all as her own.

Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Adolph; her son Eddie; her grandson, Garrett Rice; and her granddaughter, Amber Rice.

She is survived by her daughters, Judy Wiede and husband Gary of Georgetown; Janet Tomasek and Husband Larry of Terrel; and Augusta Rice and husband Victor of Temple; her sons, Ricky Barabas and wife Barbara of Holland, Kenny Barabas of Holland, and Billy Barabas and wife Dawn of Academy; her 12 grandchildren, and her 15 great grandchildren.

A visitation will be held Tuesday February 25, 2014 from 6pm -8pm at Goodnight Funeral Home with a Rosary at 7pm. Mass will be held on Wednesday February 26, 2014 at 10 am at Ss. Cyril &Methodius Catholic Church with Father Stephen Nersta officiating. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Granger, TX.
