

Upon graduating in 1973 from Bartlett High School he joined the US Marines. He proudly served for 4 years. Clayton graduated from Mary Hardin Baylor in 1989 with a Bachelor of Science degree in education. Clayton was employed with Killeen ISD for 3 decades. He was a 4th and 5th grade teacher for East Ward Elementary School and Meadows Elementary School on Ft Hood. Towards the end of his teaching career, he began teaching 1st grade at Meadows Elementary School. After retiring in 2021 he returned to teaching 2nd grade at Timber Ridge Elementary School in Killeen. He loved teaching and loved the children.
He was a member of Memorial Baptist Church in Killeen, TX. He was a long-time beloved teacher in the Children's Ministry and later was a faithful member of the Sunday school class.
In the past few years Clayton has lived in a nursing home where he has made many friends. He enjoyed visiting with friends, writing stories about his family, putting puzzles together, and drawing pictures for children that visited the facility. He was a proud veteran and a die-hard Dallas Cowboy fan.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his nephew, Patrick J White. He is survived by his sister, Pam Hightower, brother Mark White and sister-in-law, Wendy White all from Bartlett, TX. He is survived by numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
He is also survived by the countless children he has taught and guided throughout the years. He will be remembered for the science projects, story time, and all the love he gave to them.
A visitation will be held at Goodnight Funeral Home, located at 209 East Professor Powell Blvd, Bartlett, TX 76511, on December 10, 2025, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
The committal service will take place at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery, 11463 TX-195, Killeen, Texas 76542, on December 11, 2025, at 10:00 am.
