

Delmon graduated from Monahans High School, Class of 1967. Following graduation, he served in the U.S. Navy as an electrician’s mate 2nd Class (E-5) during the Vietnam war. Upon returning from Vietnam, he married his high school sweetheart, Jane (Coleman) Harkey on March 14, 1971. After the war, they relocated to College Station, Texas where Delmon earned an Associated degree from the Institute of Electronic Science at Texas A & M University in 1974. He earned his Bachelor of Business Administration from Tarleton State University in 1994. He worked in the instrumentation and technology field for over 50 years. Delmon and Jane raised their family in Stephenville, Texas enjoying 50 years of marriage. They were members of the First Presbyterian Church of Stephenville for over 15 years. Delmon was active in the Stephenville High School Booster Club, serving as President in 1991-92. He was actively involved in his children’s activities rarely missing a practice, football game, baseball game, track meet, power lifting meet, band concert, recital, or pageant. He grew up pulling for the New York Yankees, was a big fan of the Dallas Cowboys, and never missed an Army/Navy Game. Go Navy!!! But, Delmon was the biggest Texas A & M fan you will ever find. Through the good and the bad, he always stood by the Aggies, ready at moment’s notice to perform the duties of the 12th man. Gig’em!!!
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother Wendell Neil Harkey. Surviving in addition to his wife, Nancy Jane (Coleman) Harkey, are son, James Christopher Harkey and wife Tina; daughter, Kimberly Jane (Harkey) Hubnik and husband Derek; grandchildren, Jordyn Hubnik, Kellen Hubnik, Kendall Hubnik, Ian Harkey, Katelyn Harkey, and Shealee Harkey. Delmon is also survived by his stepfather Tom Peden; brother, Jackie Harkey and wife Judy; sister, Darla (Harkey) Presley and husband David; and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
