Dennis graduated from Taylor High School and worked hard from a young age—starting out mowing lawns to buy his first car, then working for White’s Automotive in Taylor, before beginning a 38-year career at Alcoa.
Dennis was known for his piercing blue eyes and a contagious smile that could light up any room. He had the gift of making others feel at home, never met a stranger, and could spin a story like no other. His greatest joy in life was being a father to his three boys, who meant the world to him.
Selfless by nature, Dennis was always ready to lend a hand—“no” simply wasn’t in his vocabulary. He loved the simple pleasures of country life: baling hay, driving tractors, and tending his garden. He shared the fruits of his harvest generously with neighbors, friends, and anyone who stopped by. Many will remember Dennis sitting under the shade tree, waving to every car that passed, a small act of kindness that reflected his big heart.
Sundays often found him with friends, calling into the Rockdale radio station to request polka songs for the “garage bunch.” He loved oldies music, dancing in his one-of-a-kind style, and filling the garage with laughter. Dennis enjoyed playing dominoes and Tarok with his cousins. Some of his fondest memories were made during trips to the Island House on Padre Island, where he cherished time at the beach with his family and his “extended sons.”
Dennis leaves behind countless stories, memories, and smiles in the hearts of everyone who knew him.
He is survived by his beloved sons, Jason, Lucas (Amy Matoska & Ethan Boecker), and Joshua Mikulencak; Stacey Pasemann, whom he proudly considered the daughter he never had; many “bonus sons”; and a wide circle of extended family and dear friends who will miss him deeply.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date, with details to be shared by the family.
